Research

Professor David Roylance performs experimental and theoretical studies of processing-structure-property-performance relations in polymers and polymer-matrix composites, emphasizing mechanical properties. Past projects include ballistic impact of fabrics, the physics of fracture in elastomers and ordered polymers, the environmental degradations of thermoset molding compounds, the kinetics and cure of reactive polymers for composite matrix applications, finite element analysis of reactive and nonisothermal polymer flows, and the surface modification of aramid surfaces to promote bonding to epoxy resin.
