MIT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering has two newsletters, one for its internal community of students, faculty members, postdocs, and staff, and another for alumni and anyone interested in the department’s research or impact in the world.
The DMSE Digest is the department’s monthly community newsletter, with news about DMSE faculty, students, postdocs, and staff; stories about research and media mentions; and department and Institute events.
MADMEC win takes on one-wear T-shirt waste, Bob Kramer describes his extraordinary journey from cook to circus clown to Master Bladesmith, and DMSE’s entrepreneurial Kavanaugh Fellowships 2024 awarded to scholars pursuing drug delivery and water treatment.
DMSE Digest: Frontiers
A close relative of our community newsletter, DMSE Digest: Frontiers is a quarterly publication that seeks to reconnect with alumni and forge ties with friends of the department, wherever in the world they may be.
DMSE Digest Frontiers’ inaugural issue explores the recently opened Breakerspace, on the Infinite Corridor; initiatives such as EMERGE, a science discovery program for middle schoolers, and the first-ever DMSE Career Fair; honors such as Professor Elsa Olivetti’s appointment as associate dean of engineering; and research ranging from a process turning CO2 to fuel to pain-blocking optical fibers.
