Cory James oversees the day-to-day operations for the Olivetti Research Group and the Product Attribute to Impact Algorithm (PAIA) program which focuses on quantifying the impact of and providing strategies for increasing the resource, economic, and environmental effectiveness of materials in the context of rapidly expanding global markets. Prior to rejoining the department in August 2023, he worked as a program coordinator with MIT Professional Education, the Kimerling Research Group, and the IKIM program (DMSE), all initiatives aimed at creating career pathways for both highly-educated engineers and entry-level technicians.

Before joining the department in 2017, James worked in the funeral industry, serving families in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Outside of MIT, he enjoys traveling with his wife, spending time at the beach with their two dogs, discovering new restaurants and entertaining family and friends. James has a bachelor’s degree in Communications and is currently completing his master’s degree in Philosophy.
