MIT researchers have measured lithium intercalation rates in a variety of different battery materials and used that data to develop a new model of how the reaction is controlled.

MIT researchers—including Yang Shao-Horn—have developed a new model that illustrates the chemical mechanisms underlying lithium-ion batteries, reports Gayoung Lee for Gizmodo. The findings could lead to “faster, more efficient batteries for electric vehicles, portable electronics, and more.”
