About This Event

MIT Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Visiting Professor and Scholars Fellow Dr. Denise Frazier and the Department of Materials Science and Engineering welcome you to Live from the Foundry: A Stone of Hope. In this production, Frazier assembles a group of composers, sound artists, and  MIT affiliates to perform a 20-minute hyper-acoustic sound design using tools in the Foundry and technological instrumentation to explore tonal possibilities.

A Stone of Hope will incorporate sound design inspired by the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the African descended community of Cambridge and the Black Church. The soundscape and use of Foundry tools that transform objects into new materials serves as a metaphor to consider the transformation of the soul as it is forged in the crucible of life.

This event is free. Please register to reserve a spot.
