Research
Professor Klavs Jensen’s research spans thermochemistry, electrochemistry, and photochemistry in batch and flow, kinetics and optimization, automation, and machine learning to develop new methods that accelerate materials discovery and development. With his lab, he explores new automated reaction systems integrated with online analytics, robotics, optimization, and machine learning algorithms toward autonomous discovery. In collaboration with his colleagues in MIT’s Machine Learning for Pharmaceutical Discovery and Synthesis Consortium, he and his group develop new algorithms for synthesis planning and process chemistry.
Biography
Professor Jensen received an MS in chemical engineering at the Technical University of Denmark in 1976 and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1980. His work can be found in more than 490 journal articles, 180 conference presentations, and 63 US patents. He serves as the inaugural editor-in-chief of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s journal, Reaction Chemistry and Engineering.
