Other Available Facilities

DMSE researchers make extensive use of MIT's NSF-supported Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC), known locally as the Center for Materials Science and Engineering (CMSE). CMSE has state-of-the-art Shared Experimental Facilities for Analysis, X-ray Diffraction, Electron Microscopy, and Crystal Growth. Other facilities are available through the Materials Processing Center (MPC), the Edgerton Center, the Hobby Shop. Professional machining and fabrication services are available at the Central Machine Shop.

The Materials Project, an open database of properties allowing researchers to explore and select the right materials for their needs, is the brainchild of Professor Gerd Ceder.
