NEW.Mech is a one-day workshop that aims to bring together the New England Mechanics community with an interest in exploring new directions in the mechanics of materials and structures, and to provide an opportunity to share the latest advancements in the field. Every year it is hosted by a different New England University, and participation is offered free of charge.
The workshop features a combination of keynote talks, short teaser talks, poster presentations and valuable demo and video presentations. This model has led to increasing success and a growing participation rate in New.Mech since it was initially founded seven years ago. It offers a fertile ground to create connections between research groups in the field, and fosters a continuity to those relationships. It is also a perfect platform for students to present their work and be exposed to the vibrant mechanics community of New England. We are excited to be hosting the NEW.Mech at MIT this coming October for the second time, and are expecting a record participation of over 300 people from both academia and industry.
