My research sits in the big, fun space between materials science, solid state physics, and opto-electronic technologies. My current interests can be mostly characterized as defect and phase engineering of chalcogenide semiconductors. We have a new lab with exciting and unique equipment, please take a look at the slideshows on the group website. Ongoing and proposed topics of research include:

  1. Control of metastable electrical properties of chalcogenide semiconductors for neuromorphic computing and chemical sensing
  2. Discovery of new complex chalcogenide (eg. II-IV-VI) materials for energy and information technologies
  3. Technique development for characterization of semiconductor interfaces and dielectric films, with focus on degradation mechanisms in photovoltaic devices
  4. Phase-control of layered (2D) chalcogenides for integrated photonics and neuromorphic computing
