DMSE offers several undergraduate programs:
- Course 3 SB
- Internship program for the Course 3 SB
- Course 3A SB
- Course 3C SB program in Archaeology and Materials
- Minor in Course 3
The Course 3 SB, a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering, is pursued by the majority of undergrads in the department. In addition to the GIRs and departmental subject requirements, students are required to complete either a thesis or an internship. This degree is accredited by ABET.
The Course 3A SB allows more flexibility in designing the academic program, and is therefore commonly pursued by students considering further academic study in law, medicine, or business.
The Course 3C SB in Archaeology and Materials as Recommended by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering provides a special focus on understanding prehistoric culture through study of the structure and properties of materials associated with human activities. Students participate in laboratory activities which may include archaeological fieldwork during IAP or summer months.
