Prof. Yip receives Robert Cahn Award

The Journal of Nuclear Materials has named Professor Sid Yip the 2012 winner of the Robert Cahn Award in recognition of his scientific achievements, his interest in bridging scientific disciplines, and his ability to communicate science to a broad audience. 

Professor Yip’s research in crystalline solids and materials modeling have been recognized over his long career with many awards, his publications are highly regarded, and his role as editor of the Handbook of Materials Modeling helped shape that area of materials science. In addition to those roles, Professor Yip is a valued colleague and mentor in DMSE and at MIT; he is generous with his time and expertise in teaching interdepartmental classes, participating in curriculum development, and meeting with students, faculty, and visitors.
