Each year, DMSE gives its graduating students (grad and undergrads) a cast bronze medallion of the MIT seal. These medallions are entirely prepared, cast, and finished by students in the DMSE Foundry using the lost wax/investment casting process. All are welcome to help, no experience is necessary.
The process began Wednesday March 18, in the new foundry, 4-006. The team plans at least one session per week until graduation, so if you can't make it this time, there will be plenty of other opportunities.
To see a bit more about the medallion process, check out pages 8 and 9 here:
If you do come, please remember to wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and clothes that you don't mind potentially ruining by getting covered in wax.
