Title: Going Nano: An Essential Tool in the Materials Scientist's Toolkit Abstract: Understanding and controlling the behavior of materials fuels the creation of new technologies. Working at the nanoscale offers unprecedented ways to tune the structure and properties of materials, expanding our toolkit well beyond just choosing elements and their bonding. In addition, nanomaterials can also serve as model systems for understanding their bulk counterparts, particularly at interfaces. Drawing examples from materials as diverse as metal nanocrystals, semiconducting nanowires, and halide perovskites, this presentation explores how "going nano" is a tool for understanding and controlling materials and interfaces to generate structures with new properties.
