MADMEC 2008:
"Materials Solutions for Alternative Energy"
PROPOSALS DUE: April 25, 5 pm, Room 6-107

CONTEST RULES:

TEAMS
MADMEC is a team-based competition. Teams must include at least 2 members, and a maximum of 5, comprised of MIT-students only. At least two members of each team must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. If you are looking for DMSE and non-DMSE teammates, try posting on the teammates page.

Students graduating with a 2008 degree date are welcome to participate in MADMEC. Students graduating in 2007 (or earlier) are not eligible.

Faculty and staff are allowed to advise and consult with teams, but may not be official team members.

All intellectual property (IP) generated during the contest will be wholly owned by the inventors. MIT, Dow Chemical, Saint Gobain and General Motors Corporation will not claim a stake in your IP due to participation in MADMEC.

After the April 25th registration due date, the panel of judges will notify those teams selected to continue their participation in MADMEC.

These teams will be able to receive up to $1000 in funding from MADMEC for their prototype. Funding will be in the form of reimbursement -- all expenditures must have receipts or invoices, and must be submitted to MADMEC within 2 weeks after the MADMEC finals to be eligible for reimbursement. MADMEC can also purchase materials, tools, etc for your group so you don't have to spend money out-of-pocket. These funds will be deducted from your available budget.

Any prior work you have done that is related to your MADMEC project will be taken into account when judging and evaluating your team. All teams will be judged according to what was accomplished and developed during the competition, and not on any prior experience, prototypes or research.
